MEMBERSHIP

The Eagles Band membership is open to instrumental (wind and percussion) musicians who play at an intermediate level or higher. Our members range from having played an instrument through high school with experience in playing in concert type bands to professional musicians as well as music teachers.

Membership is open three times a year at the beginning of different concert seasons including Fall (September), Winter (January), and Summer (May).

The Band has weekly rehearsals on Monday nights at the First Methodist Church on Fenn Street in Pittsfield. One becomes a member after satisfactory participation in a season’s worth of rehearsals and playing in one major concert.

In addition to the concert band, the Eagles Community Band organization supports several small ensembles including a Big Band, Brass Ensemble, Trombone Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble, and Flute Ensemble.

The Eagles Band provides copies of the music and a music folder. Members must have their own instruments (except for percussion), music stand, uniform (band shirts are required and are available for purchase), other attire (black pants, both white and black shirts, black socks, black shoes) and transportation to rehearsals and concert locations.

Please contact us about your interest. We will introduce you to the band’s director and appropriate section leader. No audition is required, but section leaders will assess the playing level of prospective members during rehearsals to determine which part is appropriate to play within their section.

Student members (under age 18) are also welcome but require a letter of introduction from their music teacher (private teacher or band director), an audition, and a sponsor. Sponsors can be a member of the band, or a parent or teacher who will also attend rehearsals.
